Creative magic is a new company manufacturing illusions that quite
literally pack small and play large. THE SHADOW TENT is their first
offering, and is a specially made tent, not unlike one used for camping,
with several built-in features that enable the performer to peform the
classic Shadow Box illusion with a new, versatile piece of equipment.
You can show the tent empty,
zip it closed, pick it up and turn it around
360o with the edges of the tent a few inches off the floor. Setting
it down
you then drop a light bulb in through an opening in the top and have
the
shadow of the assistant appear inside the tent. Finally the assistant
bursts
through the front of the tent. I happen to know Brian South, the
creator of this illusion, and can tell you that considerable research
and
development have gone into this effect. It is very well made to last
years, looks
good, sets up fast, is light weight and packs into a small bag you can
carry
on board an airliner.
Two nice things about this
special tent are, first,
that the audience will think it is a regular tent, so it will indeed
seem to
be ordinary; second, for those who like to couch their illusions in
playlets, or vignettes, this is perfect. Check out the ad in the August
