slits in the sides of the tent. Have a seamstress do this for you,
so they can be properly reinforced.
2.two golf clubs
3.A tennis racquet
4.Fishing pole
5.A Football
6.A female assistant, dressed like a cheerleader and two other assistants

on the back to tell the performer which card is which.
8.A light on a chord to hang in the tent.

Set up:
The Shadow tent is set up in the middle- center of the stage with the
female assistant. The assistant has the following items with her: Golf
clubs, a tennis racquet, a fishing pole, and a football.

Routine:
The magician goes into the audience and selects a gentleman that looks
like he would be a good sport.

Hello, sir, what is your name?

He says his name is John.

John, we are going to play a little game. John, I have with me
5 different jumbo cards, each with a different picture of a man?s
sport or hobby. Here?s a picture of a set of golf clubs, a photo of
a tennis racquet , a photo of a camping tent, another picture showing a
fishing rod....complete with tackle..........speaking of tackle, look
here, John, here's a picture of a football. John, do you have a
favorite sport or hobby? Sorry?(Pretend not to hear him.)
Oh, I heard you........I'm just sorry. I?m now going to mix up
the 5 cards and as I hold the cards face down, I want you to point to one
of the cards. Take your time. I want to make sure that you and the
audience know that you have a complete free choice. Are you
satisfied with your selection? Do you want to change your mind.......or are you
happy with the mind you've got? Turn over the card
(force) showing the picture of the tent. Apparently, John!, you like camping?
I could tell by looking at you that you
are a camping kind of a guy. Are you a great outdoors lover?
What's that........you say you're pretty good indoors too!
John, this is a family show!
John, I?m going to prove to you that I can control your mind.
You selected the tent.......Check it out!!!!!!!

Curtain immediately opens showing the tent.

How about that? It's a miracle! Look at that.....John, you must have camping on your mind. John, the only way I can explain this coincidence is that this tent somehow must be an extension of your mind. In fact, John, this tent........IS your mind. (Twilight Zone music is heard)

Two assistants come out and put giant eyes on the front of the tent.
Then stick on giant cut-out ears on the side of the tent.......sticking
them on with Velcro.

What do you think, ladies and gentlemen, doesn't this look like
John? Let's see what goes on in that head of yours.

Assistants open up the front flap of the tent showing nothing inside.

It doesn't look like a lot goes on in there.

What do you think about all of this, John?

Assistants wiggle the front flap of the tent as if it's a tongue, at
the same time, a recorded sound of a person giving someone
the razzberries is heard.

Oh, John, it isn't nice to stick your tongue out at the audience
like that. Shame on you..... I think it's time you zipped your
lip, John.

Assistants zip up the tent. Hidden assistant opens secret flap and
moves inside the tent, bringing the other items in with her.

So what do you think about all of this, John.........isn't this fun?

Assistants twist the tent side to side as if a person was shaking their head.

Don?t shake your head, John....... I can't hear it rattle from here.

Assistants now turn the tent all the way around............revealing
another set of eyes, already on the back of the tent, as they continue to
turn it the rest of the way around until it faces front again.

Look at that................John has eyes in the back of his
head. What are you doing John? ....... I guess he's just having a
look around I Guess John just wants to make sure that no funny
business is going on. I know what you are thinking, John, this
whole thing is funny. I also know what else you are thinking. You
are thinking that it's real cool how you thought of a tent and then I
made it appear, but I also know that you are thinking, what would have
happened if I had selected another card?

Magician is still standing by John and fans out the cards again.
Tell you what, John.........you hold the cards for me face down.

Magician reads the marks on the backs of the cards and picks up the
pre-determined picture card, (These cards are roughed in pairs, so be
sure to pick up two as one) to match the first item to be produced.

You see, John, you could have selected this card, I don?t know
what it is, but let's take a look. Oh,........ it's some golf clubs.
You know, I could tell by looking at you, that you would have never
select this card. You aren't a golfer are you? I didn't think so.

No matter what John says, Assistants shake the tent back and forth like
a head shaking no.

You know, John, I had a friend that was a golfer and he golfed so
much, he had golf clubs coming out his ears! He was a nice guy,
though.........in fact, he was on the ball most of the time.

Hidden assistant pushes two golf clubs out through slits in each side
of the tent. It looks like they are coming out of the ears. They are
grabbed by the outside assistants.

Let's mix up the cards again. Take the cards and don't let me see the faces.
Let's see what this one is. Oh, look, it's a tennis card. You don't like tennis, do you John?

Assistants shake tent back and forth no again.

John, I told you not to shake your head. It?s making a terrible racquet!!!

On the word, racquet, the hidden assistant passes out a tennis
racquet through the slit.

That just leaves these two cards. John, just point to one of
them. (Use magicians choice here to force the fishing pole )
Immediately the fishing pole is pushed through the slit and taken by outside
assistant. Speed is of the essence here. It has to look
instantaneous.

Something fishy going on here! You obviously decided not to
choose that card You knew that fishing isn't that great of a sport
didn't you? A person can easily get hooked on it.

There is one last card. Do you remember what it is?
Assistants shake tent no.

You don't?

Assistants shake tent to look like no. Hidden assistant moves to the
outside behind the tent again, taking the football with her

John, sometimes I think that you need to have your head examined

Two outside assistants open up the tent.

John, you don?t have much in that head of yours, do you?

Assistants hang up the light on a hook in the tent.

Yep........just as I thought, John.........even when the lights are
on, there's nobody home!!!!

Assistants pick up the front flap again and wiggle the front flap of
the tent and the razz berries sound is heard again.

Just zip it up, John.

Assistant goes back through the secret flap to the inside of the tent,
but stays in back of the light.

John, let?s ask the audience if they remember what the last card
is Yes, it?s football. John, I can't believe you didn't
pick football to begin with. I guess you just, passed by it.

Magician makes throwing or passing motion with his arm.
Hidden assistant moves her arms in front of the light.

After all, Football is probably the most exciting sport there
is..............especially with those cheer leaders!!!!

Hidden assistant breaks through the front of the tent with a football
in hand as football music is heard.

Yes.............John, I've read your mind again.................You
rascal, you!!!! One thing I'll say about you,
John......................you sure have an imagination!!!!!!! I think that you will agree with me, Ladies and Gentlemen, that John?s imagination is really intense. (In tents)

How about a nice big round of applause for John!
